Day 6 - Formia (24 kms)
Easiest day so far and very nice weather and have ended up in a nice resort by the sea. Sharp contrast to the storms at home. Nice morning shot looking back on Fondi and those bloody mountains.
Joan tells me that Cicero was (allegedly) murdered here in AD 43. She doesn’t miss a trick. I had no idea. Re Cicero, Robert Harris has a great trilogy about him, highly recommended. Great writer.
Was walking on paved stones that are as old as time itself, if not older. The Via Appia Antica is an ancient Roman road that connected Rome to Brindisi, a city in southeastern Italy. It was built in 312 BC during the Roman Republic and was one of the most important and famous roads in the Roman Empire.
