The Sins of Others (Part 2)

The usual, flight delayed one hour, then bus into the city, Roma Termini, I walked down to the colloseum and had a look around and then zig-zagged my way back. Place wasn’t overcrowded with tourists, most pleasant, 25 degrees. Don’t know why I pre-booked regional train to Castel Gandolfo, better off just buying at the station.  Know across the World as the Pope’s summer residence, it is a pretty spot overlooking Lake Albano. Nice small square at the top and restaurants all over the place. Places I couldn’t afford and let’s face it, fine dining is not for one. Also, first act of kindness where a woman walked 250 metres to her car and back to stamp my credenzial, amazing. I didn’t ask her, it was my hotel lady who told her I wanted one and the only bar in the village that had a stamp was closed. But this lady had her own stamp because she lets out summer houses and so she helped me out. What a gal. 

It’s the food. Plain and simple. The food, not me.  And also because I felt that following the overwhelming success of the first blog in 2016 (3rd place finish in Icelandic Tourism Travel Blog of the Year) I had to go back and walk the rest of Italy. The fans demanded it and let’s face it, the sins have being adding up. Not mine I hasten to add, the sins of others. Sadly,  my friends have continued to sin, without any redemption. It’s a bit rich really, I walked the first part of the Via Francigena to atone for their sins (let’s say 45 years worth) and 8 years later I’m back again at the same lark. Would they ever cop on to themselves? Still, someone has to step up and I’m happy once again to walk for the sins of others. I’m good like that.  Look closely and you’ll spot the cross below, I bring it everywhere.
